Imagine flying to school on a broom, riding unicorns in relays, chasing shadow dragon spirits, and having tea with an actual queen bee. For centuries, witches, faery, and supernatural creatures in the Four Kingdoms have lived in peace, shielded from mortals by a magical protection ward. Teen witches Wren Starling and her younger siblings Martin, Robin, and Jay call it home.

Charmed Met and Welcome to Wren Starling and the Enchanted Kingdoms!

Wren is eager to begin the new school term at The Cauldrons School of Magical Arts and Witchcraft. As a ‘Cauldy’ third year, she is an avid history buff committed to earning top witches’ honors. She knows maintaining her grades can eventually grant her biggest wish—acceptance to Ravenwyck University. Martin, the budding mechanical wizard of the family, is anticipating becoming a second-year at Runestones. Twins Robin and Jay are experiencing first-year jitters, leaving home to enter high school at these prestigious girls’ and boys’ boarding schools.

Wren’s creative imagination could never prepare her for the tests she is about to receive. After life-altering changes from a poisonous scratch triggers a hereditary trait, sibling rivalries, love triangles, and mistaken identities arise. In particular, classmate Crimson Warcroft sees Wren as a threat between her and the kingdom’s new boy band heartthrob. Jealous bullying ensues. Rumors spread that Wren’s physical symptoms of becoming a seer are something wicked.

Outside of school, Wren finds an intriguing old book in a hollow tree that belonged to the kingdom’s most revered wizard and seer who conjured the protective ward 1500 years ago, her ancestor Athdar Ravenwyck. Between studies, Wren begins reading Athdar’s fascinating handwritten entries.

By Halloween, concerns arise for Wren, her siblings, and the inhabitants of the enchanted Four Kingdoms when it’s discovered that the ‘everlasting’ ward is failing. The ward covers a vast area, making repairs complicated. Wren has seen enough of ‘The Terribles’ while studying in Cauldrons’ history clock to understand the danger they face if mortals ever re-discover the Four Kingdoms’ vast riches. Her world would never be the same. Resolution is needed—fast!

Wren believes the quirky codex may hold clues everyone is looking for. The trick is, cloaked by charms, it won’t reveal itself easily. Much is written in code; half of it is invisible, and so far, only Wren can see it. To complicate matters, the author dedicated it “For Seers’ eyes only” under the promise of secrecy.

Aided by the realm’s faery princess, a wonky old map, and the school’s history clock, Wren is determined to help find the solution among the grandmaster wizard’s mysterious drawings, equations, and coded notes—before the ward fails.
